New app improves heat pump installations, addressing skilled labor shortages while supporting electrification efforts across Canada
Properate, the leader in home energy assessment software tools, today announced the public launch of Stride, a new app designed to help HVAC contractors quickly scan homes, create 3D models, and generate instant reports for more accurate heat pump installations.
Demand for heat pumps is increasing in Canada. The need for housing affordability and sustainable home solutions is driving interest in heat pumps as a way to decrease home energy costs and take advantage of energy efficiency rebate programs.
However, Canada is facing a skilled labor shortage, with over 700,0001 trades workers expected to retire by 2028. With an additional 229,0002 heat pumps needing to be installed by 2026 to stay on track with Canada’s electrification goals, HVAC contractors need tools to streamline installs, improve heat pump performance and empower homeowners to make informed decarbonization decisions.
Properate Stride is built to address these challenges. By automating space measurements with LiDAR scanning, providing 3D modeling for space visualization, and delivering instant heat load calculations that conform to CSA F280 requirements, Stride helps contractors streamline installations and improve heat pump performance. Leveraging this technology allows HVAC contractors to improve installation efficiency and homeowner communication.
